Santa’s helpers at Cygni Öst are preparing for this year’s Cygnified Advent of Code. As two newly hired elves, we want to send greetings on how we have prepared before our first AoC.
This will be so much fun! I must have been living under a rock because I’ve never heard of AoC before. Compared to the normal advent calendar filled with chocolate this will be much more fun and better for my health.
I’m planning on solving the puzzles with Rust but I have never used Rust so we’ll see if I’ll switch to a different language to save time. I’m also planning to solve all the puzzles but I think that is more up to my wife to decide because there is a risk that this will consume me and I’ll spend every waking moment thinking about solutions and forgetting to spend time with her. Which is not ideal for Christmas time…
As long as I beat Nisse, I’ll be satisfied.
Gustav
Yes, my name directly translates to Santa’s little helper in Norwegian and yes, my parents are very proud of me fulfilling the prophecy™.
For this year’s AoC, my vacation request finally went through which means the only wrapping I’ll do will be in code. For me, it’s all about the preparation and the setup. In order to defeat my fellow elf Gustav, I will prepare my equipment as meticulously as a surgeon prepares his instruments.
Besides theming my editor with the gruvbox theme and vscode-icons, here’s a list of three of my must have extensions for VSCode:
- Prettier, make sure your code formatting is ⭐️
- Live server, quickly spin up that local web dev environment with live reload functionality
- Bracket colorizer, now native in VSCode and just one checkbox away
Nisse
Wish you all the best!
